The DVB-H mobile TV platform will distribute both free-to-air and encrypted TV content to the entire IBC exhibition area. SIDSA will provide and operate the platform through its POLAR PLUS Headend. The demonstration aims to show interoperability among all DVB-H-enabled devices for CBMS and OMA BCAST
SIDSA, an International DVB technology provider, announced plans to provide and operate a DVB-H platform at the upcoming IBC show. The company has been selected by the IBC organisation to operate, through its POLAR PLUS Headend - which is compliant with DVB standards-, the mobile TV platform from its 245 booth (IPTV/Mobile Zone), proving once again that its DVB-H technology solutions are in the forefront of the industry.
The DVB-H platform will cover the entire IBC exhibition area, and will broadcast seven channels: BBC1, BBC2,BBC News24, BBC4, BBC3, Cbeebies and CBBC. They will be distributed free-to-air using the CBMS and OMA BCAST standards, although some will be encrypted in collaboration with a third party. The IBC Organisation, National Grid and Teamcast will also take part in the DVB-H live service. The aim of the demonstration platform is to show interoperability among the different DVB-H enabled devices that are going to be shown during the IBC and to make clear that DVB-H mobile TV transmissions are currently a reality. Moreover, SIDSA has enriched its POLAR PLUS platform with a new added-value by including the OMA BCAST solution. This experience comes at a time when several countries have already launched commercial DVB-H services, such as Italy and the Russian Federation, and some others are preparing for their launch.
