KPN launches mobile TV service in Netherlands with Nokia technology

Finnish telecomms infrastructure company Nokia Siemens Networks, owned by the Finnish telecomms solutions provider Nokia (NYSE:NOK) and the German electrical engineering and electronics company Siemens, said on Tuesday (19 August) that ten television channels are now available across the Netherlands through a mobile television solution from Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks.
Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks provided the telecomms group KPN with a turnkey head-end solution based on open standards to launch broadcasts on the MobielTV service.
The service is made available through a broadcast network based on the Digital Video Broadcast for Handheld (DVB-H), the European standard for mobile television, and can be watched on DVB-H-enabled mobile devices.
More channels are expected to be included in the offering in the future, the company said.
