DVB-H for Dubai

Tecom Investments has tapped a Deutsche Telekom subsidiary to build a mobile TV network in Dubai using DVB-H, a new video broadcasting technology.
The German subsidiary, called Media & Broadcast, said the DVB-H (digital video broadcasting-handheld) network would deliver TV programming over mobile phones beginning with a test phase running through 2007.
The contract with Tecom, a holding company covering real estate, tele-communications and technology firms, is worth several million dollars.
Users will be able to receive 12 TV channels on their cell phones and mobile end-devices free of charge.
